The Owensville Police Department provides 24 hour police protection to city residents.   The Police Department currently has a full staff of 8 full time officers and 1 Police Records clerk.  OPD is located at 109 North Second Street, Owensville, MO.  Contact the Police Secretary at (573) 437-1032 for non-emergency calls or leave a voice mail. If you need an officer for non emergency police matters call (573) 437-7770 or 911 for all emergencies.  Email at  police@cityofowensville.com

The Police Department has a good relationship with the community and makes it a priority to maintain this relationship. Community involvement activities inlcude: Shop with a Cop; Honor Roll -Bike & Laptop giveaway; Gasconade County Fair - Dunking Booth.

The Owensville Municipal Court had disbanned and all future court could either be held through Gasconade County Circuit Court in Hermann, MO. or Osage County CCircuit Court  Linn, MO

Emergency Management Agency

The Owensville Emergency Management Agency is responsible for the preparation and implementation of emergency functions required to prevent injury and minimize & repair damage due to disasters, to include emergency management of resources and administration of such economic controls as may be needed to provide for the welfare of the people, and emergency activities. (Section 235.010)

*Recommended restaurant dining room closure begins 12:01AM Friday morning 3/20/20. Needed to promote this as much as possible.

* Gasconade Co is a class 3 county so the Commissioners can not pass a mandate like a Class 1 can. We have to follow state recommendations.

Tornado Sirens

Testing of the sirens is the first Monday of every month at 11:00 am.

If the outdoor warning siren sounds other than the normal monthly test that means either a tornado had been indicated on Doppler radar by the National Weather Service or a trained weather spotter has seen a funnel cloud & or tornado.  When the sirens sound you should take cover immediately by following your company's emergency policy and tune into the local media for updated information.

Just because the sirens stop sounding doesn't mean the imminent threat is over or has passed.  So it is very important to follow the local media for information in a secure place such as a basement or your lowest level, an interior room away from all windows, etc.

The siren will not sound for an all clear when the storm has passed.  We highly encourage all companies to follow the weather on a daily basis, especially during severe weather season.  It is highly recommended that you review and drill with your employees on how to react to any emergency.

Owensville Volunteer Fire Departments

The Owensville Volunteer Fire Department covers the southern half of Gasconade County which includes the City of Owensville.  The force consists of approx 34 volunteers who faithfully respond to 300 or more calls each year.  Two firehouses are located in Owensville and one is located at Mt. Sterling.

The present ISO rating is 6 in town and 9 in the rural area.  In case of a fire or accident, dial 911.  New members are always welcome by completeing tan application to the Fire Department and voted on by it's members.

Owensville Area Ambulance District

The Owensville Area Ambulance District is a seperate entity of the City which is located at 405 East Lincoln Street in Owensville.  It currently offers three ambulances that are staffed with EMT's and Paramedics and contain up to date lifesaving equipment to serve the residents of Owensville and the surrounding areas.  The Ambulance District is overseen by a 6 member Board of Director's, that meet on a monthly basis.  The ambulance are dispatched by Gasconade County 911.
