The City of Owensville in 2009 implemented a Public Works Director that oversees the daily operations of the municipal utilities including the city water/sewer system and streets department.

City streets are maintained by the Street Department. Sidewalks and curbing are the responsibility of the property owner.
Snow Emergency Routes: It is unlawful for any person to park any vehicle on the designated streets during a snow emergency.
Repair and Maintenance: For repair and maintenance to the city streets, contact the Public Works Director above.
To report a water or sewer outage or break call (573) 437-2125 during normal business hours, after hours call (573) 437-7770 or 9-1-1 for the department to be dispatched.

Electric, Water and/or Sewer service shall be applied for through the Owensville Municipal Utilities Office. A deposit of $100.00 is required at the time of making the application for water and/or sewer service. An additional deposit of $100.00 is required for electric service. The deposit will be held by the City as security and returned to the customer when the electric service has reached the last billing cycle, as long as all the bills owed by customer have been paid in full. No owner of real property will be required to place a security deposit for services.
Billing cycles run from the 10th of the month to the 10th of the next month. Each bill is due by the 15th of the following month. Utility services charge shall be considered delinquent if not paid in full on or before the 15th day of each month. A late penalty of $10.00 will be assessed each month the account is delinquent. Any account which is not paid by the 23rd shall be disconnected for non-payment with no additional notice. See the back of each bill for more information.

Ameren UE maintains and supports the Natural Gas service provided in the City limits. Contact Ameren at (800) 552-7583 for more information. For public emergencies, dial 911.
Trash removal is the responsibility of the property owner or renter. It is a violation of city ordinance to dump any garbage or refuse upon any street, alleyway or public place within the city. Contact Swinger/BFI at (573) 885-7596, Waste Management at (800) 359-7929 or refer to the local telephone book for additional information.
